FARGO — Chalk up another award for Mason Klabo.
The Fargo Davies standout has been named 2025 North Dakota Mr. Basketball.
Klabo was one of two finalists for this year's award as voted on by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. This year's other finalist was Westhope-Newburg's Walker Braaten.
Klabo, a 6-foot-2 guard, is the second Eagles player to receive the honor. The first was Davies' Tanner Kretchman in 2014, who went on to have a stellar collegiate playing career at Minnesota State Moorhead.
Klabo is committed to NCAA Division I Illinois State next season.

Mr. Basketball has been awarded annually by the NDAPSSA since 1985. The award is presented to who is deemed the top senior boys basketball player in state each season.
Klabo's stat line this past season speaks for itself. He finished his senior campaign with a state-leading average 27.7 points per game to go with 7.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
He led Davies to this season's Division AA state title game as the East No. 3 seed, scoring 21 points in a runner-up finish to Bismarck Century . The Eagles finished the season 20-7.

Klabo was a unanimous pick to the Division AA all-state first team announced earlier this week, his fourth time receiving first team all-state honors. His resume also includes four unanimous all-Eastern Dakota Conference nods and three all-state tournament team selections.

Klabo finished his career eighth on the all-time North Dakota boys basketball scoring list among all divisions with 2,394 career points, per lists kept by North Dakota Hoopster.
He set the Division AA/A all-time scoring record in February in a win over West Fargo Sheyenne, surpassing the previous high mark of 2,192 career points from 2017 Mr. Basketball honoree Aanen Moody of Dickinson.

Klabo departs the Davies program as its all-time leading scorer along with records for career field goals, career threes, career free throws, career assists and career steals. He also holds the single-game school records for points in a game with 53, field goals in a game with 19 and assists in a game with 12.
Previous Mr. Basketball winners in recent years include Four Winds-Minnewaukan's Deng Deng in 2024, Minot's Darik Dissette in 2023 and Bismarck's Treysen Eaglestaff in 2022. A full list of winners and award history may be viewed at NDAPSSA.com.
