“This is a nationwide mobilization to stop the most brazen power grab in modern history,” reads a description of the movement on its website. “Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies are orchestrating an all-out assault on our government, our economy, and our basic rights—enabled by Congress every step of the way.

“They want to strip America for parts—shuttering Social Security offices, firing essential workers, eliminating consumer protections, and gutting Medicaid—all to bankroll their billionaire tax scam,” the description continues. “They’re handing over our tax dollars, our public services, and our democracy to the ultra-rich.

“If we don’t fight now, there won’t be anything left to save.”

More than 1,000 events are scheduled across the United States and Mexico, according to the website.

The Trump and Musk partnership has resulted in numerous federal cuts that have had a wide effect across the nation, including in Michigan.

Musk leads the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was created through an executive order signed by Trump shortly after he was inaugurated.

DOGE was tasked with modernizing “federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity.” Since it was established, the agency has slashed the budgets and workforces of numerous government agencies. DOGE has also canceled contracts and leases for agencies all over the U.S.

Offices in Michigan have been closed, while grants have also been pulled as a result of DOGE’s efforts.
