Madison Metropolitan School District MMSD

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Metropolitan School District continues to make strides in its 2024 facilities referendum.

"We're really taking a full holistic approach and making sure that we're getting our cost checkpoints as we continue pushing towards the fall, to what we call detail work," said Scott Chehak, MMSD's senior executive director of building services.

Since early 2025, MMSD has focused on reworking four phase 1 schools. Sherman Middle, Malcolm Shabazz City High School, Samuel Gompers Elementary School, and Black Hawk Middle School.

MMSD said the project timeline remains on track, with construction set to start in early 2026.
